Woven by Mangyan artisans in the mountains of Mindoro Island, Philippines, using nito vine harvested from the rainforests that have sustained their community for generations. Every strand was selected, prepared, and interlaced by hand — a process that takes days, not minutes, and cannot be replicated by any machine.

At 12 inches wide, 7 inches long, and 6 inches tall with a carry handle, it is a practical basket built for real daily use — fruit on the kitchen counter, bread on the dining table, yarn in the living room, toiletries in the bathroom. It holds its shape because the weave is tight and the nito vine is dense. It carries comfortably because the handle is woven into the structure, not attached as an afterthought.

The rectangular form is deliberate. It sits flat, stacks neatly, and fits naturally against walls and into shelves in a way that round baskets simply do not.

The color variation you will notice across the weave — lighter strands next to darker ones, patches where the vine caught the finish differently — is not irregularity. It is the honest signature of a material that came from a living forest and was worked by a living craftsperson. No two baskets will ever look exactly the same.
