Woven by Mangyan artisans in the mountains of Mindoro Island, Philippines, this cylinder container is six inches across and six inches tall — proportions that are not accidental. The nito vine used to make it is harvested from Mindoro's rainforests — a material the Mangyan have worked with for over a thousand years. It is dense, flexible when being woven, and rigid once set.
