Rainbow Teardrop Beaded Sandals
Rainbow Teardrop Beaded Sandals
In Maasai communities, beading has never been just decoration — it's a language. Colors carry meaning, patterns are passed down between women in the same families and villages, and the hours spent stringing each bead by hand are, in their own way, a form of storytelling. This sandal carries that tradition on its strap: a teardrop medallion built in concentric rings of navy, sky blue, teal, green, yellow, orange, and red, framed in white and secured with a hand-carved wooden toggle at the toe.
The sandal itself is cut from warm cognac leather, hand-stitched around every edge, and built to soften and mold to your foot the more you wear it. No two medallions come out quite the same — the beader's hand, the day's light, the batch of beads on hand that week all shift the pattern slightly, which is exactly the point. You're not buying a mass-produced accessory. You're buying one artisan's work, on one particular day, in one particular village outside Nairobi.
